Default Question about paragons...

Im sry but it seems to me that paragons are so unpopular, I dont understand why tho. I dont have nightfall but if i did id make a paragon for sure, using adrenalin skills, pimp armor, distance seems awsome, it really sounds like a warrior in a way
Although i see so little paragons and people dont wanna play them for missions...

Is there sumthing bad about them or what?

The only problem with paragons is the number of people who aren't aware of what they can do.

The PvE community's decisions are guided by the numbers they can see.

Most of the great things Paragons do like buffing party armor or increasing party critical hit %age aren't noticed because the game doesn't provide numbers to show the effects of these shouts.

Most pve monks focus on healing prayers over protection prayers for this reason as well.

I think the answer is partly found in the explanation given by JoeKnowMo and Racthoh, ppl dont see what a paragon does for a team and if the other ones do lots of damage they start spamming about how superior their builds are without even considering that much of that comes from the paragon.

One other explanation could be that there are many players that dont know how to play a paragon right and only use them as a warrior with a spear. Imo those are the ones that gives the rest of the paragons bad reputation. Much like the ones that played assassin as tanks without using the proper skills and gave the assassin bad rep

Actually a pretty good use for a Paragon, they've got warrior-equivalent DPS (read: stupid high damage)

The bad Paras are the ones with 12 Motivation and 3 Spear Mastery, and who think that Aggressive Refrain sucks.

So true! seriously if you think the spear is there just for adrenaline gain then your mistaken a good Paragon helps with both offense and defense.

A warrior with 7 attack skills would suck too . But yea a mixed role is by far the best for a para, full motivation? Get a monk. Command? Alone its pretty inneffective. Leadership? Again cant do much alone. Also pure spear mastery is done better by a ranger. But when you mix you get the best prof in the game =D.

My first decent para shield was motivation, so I started off experimenting with just leader/moti/spear + occasional tactics. Still works to this day.

I only use 2 motivation skills though, and I can probably ditch those now I've achieved legendary survivor

Paragon, like Sin simply dont get popular is because most cant understand what theyre for. Sins turns unexpectedly to a tank Para to a warrior. Im sure anyone who have play HA in organized group involves in para will realize how powerful it can be. Assiting Spike, Unstrippable defense, and even healing. Sins is just the same. People are using it wrong in pve, You Shadowstep/run to the enemy after tank esbalish and kill one of their caster, shadowstep back and wait till your ready again.

They're in the same boat as mesmers, for the most part. Great profession, terrible reputation from PvE morons.

Actually, they tank crap with Crit Defenses + Crit Agility, and do stupid damage with DB/Moebius spam. Even better.

Just imagine 7 random attack skills, and rebirth. Then the person claiming how they are better than a Warrior.

Bored so....

[skill]Swift Javelin[/skill][skill]Spear of Lightning[/skill][skill]Barbed Spear[/skill][skill]Harrier's Toss[/skill][skill]Unblockable Throw[/skill][skill]Mighty Throw[/skill][skill]Slayer's Spear[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]

With the reasoning of....I like to keep using attack skills to do a lot of damage.

Taking my new paragon through Cantha to pick up my Kurzick skills. I have to work hard to NOT get Masters on the missions. I got lost in Arborstone, took the route with all the dredge, still got Masters easy. Tahnakai Temple was a snap. The combination of good, fast DPS and constant partywide defensive buffs just lets you steamroller.

OTOH if you party up with idiots who run out of earshot, it can go badly. Also, if you want to use "They're on Fire!" it really helps to have some folks who can lay down the burn. Basically, a Paragon may take a little more coordination with the rest of the party to use, but the results are awesome. But if playing with J. Random PUG, without coordinating builds and discussing tactics, you might be as effective as an MoP/Barbs Necro partied with a bunch of Eles.
